Q&A: VIKASA Capital Partners’ new CEO Nathan Tribble
We’re excited to welcome fintech veteran Mr. Nathan Tribble to the firm in order to further our mission of building a leading financial services business. We sat down with Nathan for a Q&A session to discuss the future of VIKASA and how his unique experience adds stakeholder value.
We are really excited about what the future holds for VIKASA. What strikes you most about the Company’s history and its current trajectory?
Prior to joining the board I was impressed with the breadth of products and services offered at VIKASA. Since onboarding I’m even more impressed by our scope. While some firms in their attempt to diversify ‘water down’ their offerings, VIKASA has moved from strength to strength. The full lineup offered at VIKASA is not only a strong differentiator in the marketplace, but also offers tangible benefits and expertise to our clients and investors.
VIKASA continues to experience exponential growth. Describe your role in implementing the Company’s growth strategy?
I’m operating with a dual mandate. First, establish and implement the new strategic vision for our venture business and second, act as a force multiplier for our broader operation. My passion for team building and professional development are particularly useful in this context. Coming most recently from a startup, I understand first-hand the importance of wearing multiple hats and levelling up your talent. As we continue to build our team here at VIKASA I hope to imprint the importance of those perspectives on our culture.
VIKASA’s commitment to sustainability plays a large role during the Company’s investment process. What does sustainability mean to you personally?
Sustainability at its core is about balance. When it comes to sustainability and the investment process balancing long and short-term considerations is the crucial element in building a sustainable financial services business. In practice this requires us to consider how our business strategy contributes to the long-term success of our customers. Likewise, in the context of our fintech business this means finding investments and portfolio companies that have also found the right balance of meeting short-term objectives and the secular goals that create lasting value.
You bring a unique perspective as both a fintech investor and operator. What excites you most about the industry currently?
In a word, uncertainty. It’s one thing to operate in an environment where valuations are consistently ‘up and to the right.’ While there is less anxiety in these frothy markets, how firms react to challenging, adverse conditions sets the stage for making great leaps forward. It is imperative that we leverage our experience, our analytic capacity and our relationships in the space to find green shoots in uncertain markets. I’m so excited to be bringing these skills to bear in the trenches with the entire VIKASA team.
